Noel knew that he would become a singer since the age of six when he brought his aunties to
tears with a rendition of „My Cherie amour‟ –Stevie Wonder
Noel frist musical influences were the masters; people like Nat King Cole and Frank Sinatra.
When Noel formed the group The Mckoys with his brothers and sister it was then he found
almost instant success after playing the Wag, The Embassy, and host of other popular
venues around town Noel then got the backing from his father Clarence to fund a song Noel
had written and recorded in his home studio the title of the song was Family this was the
song which put Noel and his siblings on the map.
At the same time Noel fronted the acid jazz cult band The James Taylor Quartet. Noel Mckoy
has proved a versatile artist, crossing various musical boundaries. Sir Cliff Richard said of
him: 'His voice soars above many of his contemporaries and his ability to incorporate
moods into his songs is a very special talent'
2001 was the year Noel picked up best Jazz album for his vocal and writing work on Jean
Toussaint‟s “A street below the Under ground” Album for the BBC radio2/3 Jazz awards.
And more recently Noel was nominated for best album for his contribution to the Danish
producers Cool Million album “Back for more” (for the Soul Survivors Awards) which came
out April 2010. So with that said Noel‟s new single “Jealousy” from his 5th album “Brighter
Day” about to hit the Virtual world in early Oct 2010 and with a Jazz café showcase in Oct
13th 2010 Noel‟s world is definitely up on the horizon for big things to come so watch this space. If you have never caught a
