He is a musical pioneer with his trademark live Fluteboxing (beat boxing through the flute while playing it at the same time), Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee’s explosive blend unites Hip Hop, Dubstep and Beatbox beats with Jazz, Funk and Eastern melodies.
He has collaborated live and in the studio with legendary artists including: The Prodigy, Plan B, The Roots, Nitin Sawhney, Speech Debelle, K.T. Tunstall, Beardyman, Asian Dub Foundation, GURU, Foreign Beggars, Natty, Rodney P & Skitz, Mattafix and Ed Rush & Optical.
Following the release of his debut EP in spring UK Radio DJs have started to play the catalogue on the airwaves. Recent champions have included; Nihal and Huw Stephens at Radio 1, Huey Morgan and Tom Robinson at 6Music, Charlie Sloth at 1Xtra, Nikki Bedi at BBC London and Bobby Friction at the BBC Asian Network.
Nathan is now established as a festival favourite, appearing in previous years at Bestival, Womad, Larmer Tree and Glastonbury and a string of other festivals and club nights across the world.
Nathan is also part of the current Asian Dub Foundation live show, touring throughout the year. This live show is complemented with an astounding array of talented musicians and features known as “The Clinic”, featuring DJ Tigerstyle, human beatboxer WanDan, tabla player Hanif Khan, rapper and Hollywood actor Skrein, viola player Mike Pagulatos, keyboard player Maquenzie and Matt Constantine on cello.
His EP and live show also feature stalwarts from the UK Hip Hop scene - rapper Mystro and flautist Biscuit (Speaker’s Corner Quartet). This multicultural concoction of grime-infested grooves is at the new frontier of Beatboxing.
