Living true to their name, SDM (Size Doesn’t Matter) managed to pull off a West London born party in a large Kings Cross venue, North London and fill the house. As a contributor and self confessed groupie, I am well experienced and able to state that the SDM crew KNOW how to put on a party. Perhaps the reason for their long term success is the fact that the consistency of quality DJ’s and atmosphere is ever present at each and every monthly event.
The 7inch crew (they only play 7inch vinyl) lived up to their name on the 21st October 2011 with the guest DJ being Prime Cutz (from Scratch perverts). His 7 inch collection was true to form and he played the night out with funk, soul, dance classics and I’m sure some of his favourite reggae tunes which kept the crowd moving and grooving sporting ear to ear smiles.  His two hour set followed Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee and the Clinics live set . The full band were out in full effect (Wan-Dan (Beatbox), MC Skrein, Micheal (viola), Kevin (Keys), DJ Tigerstyle (Multi Award Winning Scratch DJ champion), Ross (Flute from Speakers corner Quartet). The audience were treated to new tunes from their current EP ‘Flutebox’, The set was on point. Each tune got such positive and loud reactions from the audience that the band had no choice but to encore again and again. The band were still there till the end of the event enjoying Prime Cutz set and chatting to their fans.
Upstairs was where the residence (Mastomic, DJ Dementia, THOR, MR Shiver, J1200 and DJ Kurrage) were rocking their usual party tunes and as the night progressed, it was clear to all that SDM was going nowhere.  With such a combination of live music, quality DJ’s and guests and with the venues they select, people can’t resist getting hooked. I can only imagine the night will gain more fans and spread far and wide. I believe that the attitude of the boys is a main factor of their success. They genuinely believe in the music and bringing people together for the love and it is evident at everyone of their nights, it was the main reason they started it up in the first place.  Personally, I will continue being there and stomping my feet to their beat for the next 9 years to come… they’ve proved to me that Size DOESN’T matter, as i’m sure they will you… BRING ON 2012…  Check out Nathan ‘Flutebox’ Lee and the Clinic at;  Download Flutebox on  http://itunes.apple.com/gb/album/flutebox-ep/id423772331
